September 14 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Sarajevo International Airport said it has signed a deal with local company Ans Drive for modernisation and expansion of the airport's Terminal B worth 30 million marka ($17.9 million/15.3 million euro).
The contract also includes the construction of an office-business facility at the airport, which takes up the total cost of the investment to 36 million marka, the airport said in a statement on Thursday.
The projects will be financed from the airport's own funds.
"The expansion of the passenger terminal and the construction of a business facility are important strategic projects for Sarajevo International Airport, which will, through the implementation of additional projects, provide capacities for further growth," the director of the airport, Armin Kajmakovic, said.
At present, 17 airlines are operating out of Sarajevo International Airport, including a number of charter companies during the summer season.
In 2017, the airport handled a record-high number of passengers, 957,969, up 14% year on year.
