July 7 (SeeNews) - The gross domestic product (GDP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina grew by a real 5.5% on the year in the first quarter of this year, following a revised 7.2% increase in the previous quarter and a 1.4% growth in the first quarter of 2021, the country's statistical office said in first estimate.
On a quarterly comparison basis, GDP increased by 1.0% in January-March in seasonally-adjusted terms, after adding 1.2% in October-December, and following an increase of 2.4% in the first quarter of 2021, the statistical office said in a statement on Wednesday revising quarterly figures reported earlier.
According to the expenditure approach, in terms of categories of GDP, in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, real growth was recorded in all categories: household consumption rose 6.7%, gross investment expanded 23.1%, exports of goods and services went up 40.6%, imports of goods and services surged 41%, while general government consumption dipped by a real 0.2%.
