September 20 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Serb Republic environment ministry said it has received a request by local renewable energy company ABN Elektrane to conduct a preliminary environmental impact assessment (EIA) study for a planned 0.48 MW hydro power plant Burum near the city of Bijeljina.
The public can examine the request and submit an opinion within 15 days from the publication of the notice, the ministry said in a statement last week.
ABN Elektrane announced its intention to build the Burum HPP back in 2010 in an annex of an agreement for a concession for the construction of the Gradac HPP, the company said in the request submitted to the ministry.
The construction of the power plant was postponed due to activities related to the reconstruction of facilities on the company's canal network, the filing read.
The Serb Republic is one of the two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
