January 20 (SeeNews) - The main share indices of Bosnia and Herzegovina's two stock exchanges, the Sarajevo Stock Exchange (SASE) and the Banja Luka Stock Exchange (BLSE), ended mostly lower on Friday, compared with the previous week, bourse data showed.
The 10-share benchmark SASX-10 index of the SASE closed at 1,056.12 points on Friday, down 1.14% compared with a week earlier, while the broader SASX-30 index, which is composed of the 30 most liquid stocks on the SASE, lost 0.11% to end at 1,742.71 points.
The SASE index tracking investment funds, the BIFX, ended at 827.34 points on Friday, unchanged compared with a week earlier.
The Islamic stock index SASX-BBI, launched by the SASE and Bosna Bank International (BBI), closed at 11,374.46 points, 0.77% lower compared with a week earlier. The index tracks 25 companies.
SASE’s turnover rose to 3.2 million marka ($1.76 million/1.64 million euro) this trading week, compared to 699,561 marka last week, as a total of 72,699 shares changed hands in 86 transactions.
Pharmaceutical company Bosnalijek [SAJ:BSNLR] generated the largest trading turnover, of 3,405 marka, on the Sarajevo Stock Exchange this week. The company's shares last traded on January 19, ending the session 3% lower at 29.1 marka.
The SASE is based in the Federation, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The BLSE is based in the other entity, the Serb Republic.
The benchmark index of the BLSE, the BIRS, closed at 834.43 points on Friday, down 0.15% compared to its closing value recorded a week earlier.
The BLSE's total trading turnover fell to 1.67 million marka in five trading sessions this week from 4.7 million marka in four trading sessions last week, as 86 transactions were carried out. The bourse was closed on January 9 due to a public holiday.
Telekom Srpske [BANJ:TLKM-R-A] generated the largest trading turnover, of 182,489 marka, on the BLSE's official market this week. The company's shares closed at 1.57 marka on Friday, unchanged compared with the previous day.
