May 21 (SeeNews) - A tender for the construction of a motorway linking Bosnia's capital Sarajevo to Serbia's Belgrade will be launched this summer, Bakir Izetbegovic, current chairman of Bosnia's tripartite presidency, has said.
Izetbegovic discussed the motorway project with Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday, during the visit of Erdogan to Sarajevo, the Bosnian presidency said in a statement.
On the occasion, the transport minister of the two countries signed a letter of intent on the implementation of the project.
A meeting between Bosnia, Turkey and Serbia on the project is planned to take place in the summer. Bosnia and Serbia are yet to agree on a definite route for the motorway.
Serbia's government said earlier this month it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Turkish civil engineering company Tasyapi for cooperation on road infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway on Serbian territory.
