NEZAVISNE NOVINE
- Workers of Bosnian food producer Agrokomerc, based in the northwestern town of Velika Kladusa, have blocked all production units and the administrative building of the company, saying they will not end their general strike until the state steps in to help them, trade union leader Adil Susnjar said. A total of 490 workers have received no salary or health insurance in the past four years, as well as no pension contributions in the past 11 years. The firm’s outstanding pension contributions have reached 32 million marka with unpaid health insurance contributions at 15 million marka and wage arrears at 26 million marka.
- The number of loss-making companies in the Serb Republic rose to 213 at the end of June from 174 a year ago and now they outnumber profitable businesses, the daily said. Combined corporate losses more than doubled to nearly 160 million marka at the end of the first half of 2009 from 75 million marka a year earlier.

- Political instability is the key reason why Bosnia and Herzegovina did so poorly in this year's Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum, the daily said. Bosnia ranked 109 out of 133 countries in total, down from 107 a year earlier.
