May 21 (SeeNews) - Supermarket chain operator Billa Bulgaria, part of Germany's REWE Group, said on Thursday that it has opened a new store in the country's second-largest city of Plovdiv following an investment of over 2.3 million levs ($1.3 million/1.2 million euro).
The new store, which is the company's 131st in the country, is Billa Bulgaria's first location equipped with self-checkout systems, the supermarket chain operator said in a statement.
The store, located in the Markovo Tepe shopping mall in Plovdiv, has 1,000 sq m of commercial space and will employ 40 people. This is the company's eighth store in Plovdiv.
Billa entered the Bulgarian market in 2000 and currently operates stores in 38 cities across the country, employing over 4,900 people.
