November 28 (SeeNews) - The Belgrade public transport secretariat scrapped plans for a 50 billion dinar ($440 million/423 million euro) river transport project, the Public Procurement Agency said.
This decision comes after taking into account the city of Belgrade's budget and the need to prioritise other projects, the agency said in a statement on its website on Friday, quoting the Belgrade public transport secretariat.
The procedure was initiated in April 2021, with the reasoning that it is necessary to introduce river transport to ease the burden on the city's public transport system, as well as to diversify Belgrade's tourism offering.
Only one company, PD Beo Reka, responded to a call for bids to provide the service under a public-private partnership model, according to information published on the Belgrade city website.
PD Beo Reka is owned by Branislav Vagic and Leonid Jovanovic, who each own 50% of its capital. It was founded in August 2021 with a capital of 1.6 million dinars.
