BELGRADE (Serbia), December 10 (SeeNews) – Banca Intesa remained leader in terms of assets in Serbia's banking sector in the first half of 2019, even though its share of the sector's total assets decreased to 15.6% from 15.8% in the respective period of last year, the country's central bank said.
Banca Intesa's assets increased to 593 billion dinars ($5.6 million/5.0 billion euro) at the end of the first half of 2019, from 550 billion dinars a year earlier, the central bank, NBS, said in a quarterly report on the performance of the banking sector.
Unicredit Bank Srbija followed with 439 billion dinars of assets, or 11.5% of the total in the first half of 2019, according to the report.
The return on equity (ROE) of Serbian banks stood at 9.9% at the end of June, while the return on assets (ROA) stood at 1.76%, NBS said.
