TIRANA (Albania), December 17 (SeeNews) – Albania's trade deficit decreased by 7.0% year-on-year in the eleven months through November, to 292 billion leks ($2.7 billion/2.4 billion euro), the statistical office, INSTAT, said on Monday.
Exports rose 15.0% on the year to 289 billion leks in the period under review, while imports increased 2.8% to 581 billion leks, INSTAT said in a statement.
In October alone, Albania's trade deficit totalled 29 billion leks, down 1.5% year-on-year.
Italy remained Albania's main trading partner in the January-November period, absorbing Albanian exports of 138.7 billion leks and providing imports to the country of 160.5 billion leks. Other major importers into Albania were Turkey, China, Greece and Germany.
Albania exported mainly textiles and footwear, minerals, fuels, electricity and construction materials and metals.
