TIRANA (Albania), May 2 (SeeNews) – Albania recorded a budget surplus of 3.6 billion leks ($32.2 million/28.7 million euro) in the first quarter of 2019, compared to 5.2 billion leks surplus in the same period of last year, official figures show.
Consolidated budget revenue rose 2.5% year-on-year to 108 billion leks, while expenditures increased 4.2% to 104.4 billion leks in January-March, according to data published on the website of the finance ministry.
Tax revenue increased by 3.1% to 101.6 billion leks, while value-added tax (VAT) proceeds decreased 3.7% to 32.4 billion leks.
The Albanian government projects economic growth of 4.3% and budget deficit equivalent to 1.9% of GDP in the 2019 budget.
