May 9 (SeeNews) - The Albanian energy regulator said it has opened a procedure to issue a licence to local company EU Green Energy to produce energy from a 20 MW wind farm in Jorgucat, near the southern city of Gjirokastra.
The regulator provided no further details in a statement published on Monday.
EU Green Energy will develop the wind farm in a joint venture with local companies A.91 and Winpharma, the energy ministry in an earlier statement. The companies applied for a construction permit for the wind farm in September 2021.
In June 2021, Albania launched a public call for the construction of utility-scale on-shore wind power plants with a total capacity of 100 MW, inviting to develop individual projects with a capacity of between 10 MW and 75 MW in locations deemed sustainable in an EBRD-supported study, the bank said in a statement at the time.
