January 18 (SeeNews) - The combined net profit of Albanian banks halved year-on-year to 7.26 billion leks ($55.6 million/52.4 million euro) in the first 11 months of 2016, according to data from the national association of banks, AAB.
In the first eleven months of 2015, the combined net profit of Alabnian banks totalled 14.15 billion leks.
The combined outstanding loan portfolio of Albanian banks totalled 604.1 billion leks as of end-November, up 1.4% on the year, figures published on AAB's website show.
Retail loans increased 9.6% to 169.4 billion leks, while corporate loans declined 1.4% to 434.8 billion leks.
Non-performing loans increased to 20.4% of Albanian banks' combined loan portfolio as of end-November, up from 19.9% a year earlier.
Total deposits with Albanian banks reached 1.14 trillion leks at the end of November, adding 4.3% on the year.
Retail deposits increased 2.2% to 955.7 billion leks, while corporate deposits grew 16.9% to 181 billion leks.
The Albanian banking system's total assets added 5.1% year-on-year, reaching 1.39 trillion leks as of end-November.
The sector's key profitability indicators decreased: return on equity (ROE) fell to 6.1% from 13% a year earlier, while return on assets (ROA) dropped to 0.6% from 1.2%.
At the end of the third quarter of 2016, Albania's largest banks by assets were Banka Kombetare Tregtare with 375 billion leks, Raiffeisen Bank Albania with 263.7 billion leks, Credins Bank with 158.6 billion leks, and Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania with 156.2 billion leks, according to AAB data.
