May 11 (SeeNews) - Flag carrier Air Serbia has secured traffic rights to launch a service connecting Belgrade to China’s Shanghai, regional media reported on Thursday.
“Recently, we secured traffic rights to Shanghai but in China you must go step by step. Once you have traffic rights, you must go for the slots and so on. We are also looking at Guangzhou, Chengdu and some other opportunities as well,” news portal EX-YU Aviation quoted Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek as saying.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, Shanghai was Belgrade’s busiest unserved long haul route.
Air Serbia will launch flights to Chicago on May 17, and aims to further develop its long haul routes. The airline is also looking to launch a service to Toronto in Canada and Miami in the U.S.
“In respect to long haul, we would like to grow faster, but the supply chain is not able to follow,” added Marek.
