Bilfinger Tebodin makes energy efficiency work for Food & Agro producers

Bilfinger Tebodin makes energy efficiency work for Food & Agro producers

The European Green Deal has established a 2050 net-zero emissions target to tackle climate change. The manufacturing and energy sectors account for at least 40% of European emissions and are central in the transition to a low-carbon economy. It applies very much to the Food & Agro producers that are frontrunners in both efficiency and innovation, but also sensitive to energy costs oscillation, and see decarbonisation not only as a challenge but also as an opportunity how to lower the costs.

“We see that many industrial players from Food & Agro industry in Southeast Europe are already in the process of the transition. However, those who have not started with decarbonisation yet, will have difficulty to reach the EU ambitious target to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 55% compared to 1990 levels by 2030,” says Maja Vrcelj, Food & Agro market leader at Bilfinger Tebodin CEE. “In ideal circumstances, it can take the company up to 5-6 years from initial idea up until end of execution phase,” adds Maja Vrcelj.

Six steps to CO2 Masterplanning

Bilfinger Tebodin experts are helping major industrial companies with energy transition towards set goals, and energy efficient solutions for new projects and existing facilities. Bilfinger Tebodin CEE is a multidisciplinary consultancy and engineering company with 600 specialists in 6 countries in Central & Eastern Europe (CEE). In Southeast Europe Bilfinger Tebodin operates in Romania and Serbia, but it is also supporting clients in Bulgaria, Slovenia or Croatia.

“We see that companies from Food & Agro sector focus on various energy efficiency solutions, including thermal insulation, optimization of waste heat utilization, master planning to reduce CO2 emissions - leading to energy savings - and balancing various saving measures by developing an energy efficiency plan,” explains George Cursaru, market leader for Southeast Europe at Bilfinger Tebodin CEE.

To address these needs, Bilfinger Tebodin energy transition experts have developed a 6 step approach to CO2 Masterplanning on how to reduce CO2 emissions of Food & Agro companies. This in reality means, that they look at every scope of emissions that company is producing in detail and as a result provide a comprehensive roadmap with clear measures and actions to be taken to achieve net zero targets and meet the energy ambitions of each specific client.

“Nearly all manufacturers in the industry are currently intensively addressing the question of how to make net-zero operation of their plants possible. CO2 reduction roadmap is customized step-by-step approach providing clear actions and measures to reach ambitions of each company. We are open to help our partners at any stage of the analysis or actions to help them achieve these goals,” concludes Maja Vrcelj.
