December 14 (SeeNews) - The World Bank Group said it is providing a 21.5 million euro ($26.1 million) loan to North Macedonia to implement a project for primary education improvement.
The project will encompass school and system-level reforms and trainings aimed at enhancing student learning and empowering education workers, the World Bank said in a statement on Friday.
The loan matures in 11 years, including a grace period of three years.
The five-year project that will be financed with the loan will be implemented by North Macedonia's ministry of education and science.
“This project is expected boost shared prosperity by providing quality education for all students, especially those who have traditionally been marginalised and who tend to fall into the poorest 40 percent of the population. This initiative will ensure better learning outcomes and, ultimately, better employment outcomes,” Bojana Naceva, senior education specialist and task team leader for the project, said in the statement.
