May 10 (SeeNews) - Danish turbines manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems said on Wednesday it secured an order from Lukerg Renew, a joint venture between Italy's ERG Renew and Russia’s Lukoil, to provide 36 turbines of 2.0 megawatts (MW) each for a project in Tulcea county in Romania.
The order includes an option for Vestas to supply an additional 12 MW of the same turbine type - V90-2.0 MW, the company said in a press release.
The first delivery is scheduled for the second half of the year.
Once completed, the 84-MW Topolog wind power plant will generate over 200 gigawatt hours per year, which would help eliminate the emissions of nearly 110,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. It will also be able to power over 60,000 homes.
In December Lukerg acquired from Italian clean energy project developer Inergia, part of the Santarelli Group, a 100% equity interest in Romania-registered Land Power, which holds the land rights and the permits to implement the Topolog project.
