BELGRADE (Serbia), January 11 (SeeNews) – Russia's Ural Airlines launched flights to Belgrade earlier this month, whereas another air carrier, LOT Polish Airlines, resumed its service to Serbia after a six-month suspension, the Nikola Tesla Airport said on Monday.
Ural Airlines launched weekly flights between the Domodedovo and Nikola Tesla airports on January 3, the airport said in a statement on its website.
Starting from January 20 until the end of the winter season, March 29, Ural Airlines will add another flight weekly on the route. Passengers will be transported by Airbus A321 aircraft which can carry up to 220 people.
Ural Airlines will be the third carrier to link Belgrade with Moscow alongside Air Serbia and Aeroflot which operate regular flights from Sheremetyevo airport.
On January 2 LOT resumed flights between Belgrade and Warsaw four times a week – on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The line is serviced by the 70-seat Embraer E-170 and the 85-seat Embraer E-175 aircraft.
Regular air-transport between the two capital cities was suspended following an EU penalty following a violation of antitrust regulations.
In October flag carrier Air Serbia said it too will start flying to Warsaw before the end of the winter season. The company will operate the flights four times a week in accordance with the codeshare agreement signed between the two companies in June.
A total of 27 air carriers are operating at Nikola Tesla Airport during the winter season, servicing 57 destinations.
