October 27 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's revenues from foreign tourists reached 4.7 billion levs ($2.6 billion/2.4 billion euro) in the first eight months, up by 15% year-on-year, the tourism ministry said on Thursday quoting central bank data.
In the April-September period the country was visited by 6 million foreign tourists, up by 17% on a yearly basis, the ministry said in a press release.
In the first nine months of the year, around 7 million foreign tourists visited Bulgaria, as compared to 7.1 million for the full year 2015.
In September alone the number of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria rose 15.5% year-on-year, reaching 572,625, according to data published by the country's statistics office earlier in the day.
Germans formed the biggest group of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria in Septemebr - 112,109 visitors, up 28.2% year-on-year, the NSI said in a monthly report on tourist arrivals.
