ZAGREB (Croatia), August 23 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Wednesday its earnings before taxes from operations in Croatia decreased to 2.6 million euro ($3.1 million) in the first half of 2017 from 3.0 million euro a year earlier.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Croatia dropped 6% year-on-year to 38.3 million euro in the period January-June, UNIQA said in its H1 2017 financial report.
UNIQA's gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Croatia rose to 21.0 million euro in the six-month period, up 1% on the year. First-half gross written premiums from life-insurance fell 27% to 12.8 million euro, and those in the health segment surged 83% to 4.5 million euro.
In Southeast Europe, the UNIQA group also operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - remained stable at 143.8 million euro, up 2% compared to the like period a year earlier.
