November 22 (SeeNews) - Austrian insurance group UNIQA said its pre-tax profit in Serbia rose to 1.8 million euro ($2.0 million) in the first nine months of 2019 from 1.5 million euro in the like period of last year.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Serbia rose by 8% on the year to 39.6 million euro, UNIQA said in its financial report for the first nine months of 2019 published on Wednesday.
UNIQA's gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Serbia came in at 23.6 million euro, up 9%. Gross written premiums from life insurance went up 3% to 11.7 million euro, while premiums in the health segment soared by 14% to 4.2 million euro in the reviewed period.
In Southeast Europe (SEE), UNIQA operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, N. Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Croatia. Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - rose by 7% on the year to 240.5 million euro in the first nine months of 2019.
