BUCHAREST (Romania), November 22 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said that its pre-tax profit from operations in Romania surged to 1.7 million euro ($1.88 million) in the first nine months of 2019 from 500,000 euro in the prior-year period.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Romania rose 6% year-on-year to 73.4 million euro in the January-September period, UNIQA said in a financial report on Wednesday.
Net investment income rose to 3.4 million euro in the first nine months of 2019, compared to 3 million euro in the like period of 2018. Cost ratio rose to 43.9% in the review period, from 40.7% in 2018.
UNIQA Romania's gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment increased by 8% on the year to 59.9 million euro. Premiums from life insurance rose by an annual 2% to 13.5 million euro in the nine months through September. In health insurance, gross written premiums rose by an annual 4% to 100,000 euro in the first nine months.
In Southeast Europe, UNIQA is present in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania and Serbia.
