PODGORICA (Montenegro), September 1 (SeeNews) – Montenegrin hotel operator Ulcinjska Rivijera [MNG:ULRI] led the blue-chip gainers on the Montenegrin stock exchange in August, as stock indices rose, bourse data indicated.
The blue-chip index of the Montenegro Stock Exchange, MNSE10, closed August at 824,91 points, up 0.44% month-on-month, but down 7.26% year-on-year.
The benchmark MONEX index, which tracks the 20 most representative shares on the Montenegro Stock Exchange, rose by 1.5% month-on-month in August, reaching 10,821.95 points. The index went down 0.16% year-on-year.
Ulcinjska Rivijera rose the most among the blue chips in August, adding 29.66% month-on-month to 7.0234 euro, as 455 of its shares changed hands in four transactions.
Telecoms operator Crnogorski Telekom [MNG:TECG] paced the blue-chip decliners in August, shedding 10.01% month-on-month, to 1.9531 euro. The company generated a share turnover of 53,939 euro. A total of 27,618 shares in Crnogorski Telekom changed hands in August in 38 transactions.
Turnover from trading in shares on the Montenegro bourse rose in August to 2.528 million euro ($3.0 million) from 3.086 million euro a year earlier.
Trading in Treasury bonds contributed 8,447 euro to the bourse's total turnover of 2.536 million euro in August. A total of 48,146 securities of the FO02 issue, maturing on August 18, 2017, changed hands in five transactions in August.
A total of 390 transactions were concluded on the bourse in Podgorica in August, versus 406 in July. Stock market capitalisation was 2.858 billion euro at the end of August, down from 2.87 billion euro a month earlier.
