September 25 (SeeNews) - UAE-owned defence and security firm Edge Group has signed partnership agreements with Bulgarian sector players TBS and Samel-90 as part of its strategy to bolster its presence in Eastern Europe.
Edge and TBS will work together on international trade expansion, knowledge transfer, research and development in space science technologies, cyber security, security communication, land vehicle acquisition and range development, the Abu Dhabi-based group said in a press release on Friday.
"These collaborations are another key step towards achieving the Edge growth strategy, furthering Edge’s goal to pursue global, mutually beneficial partnerships supporting defence capability development," Omar Al Zaabi, president of Edge's trading and mission support division, said.
Founded in 2006, TBS is a trading company providing space observation, simulation, radio frequency jamming technology, personnel carriers and technology for data modelling, monitoring and processing to detect cyber threats and gather counter-terrorism intelligence. The company, which supplies markets in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, has already established cooperation with Edge on a range of areas.
The new strategic agreement will enable TBS to expand its product and service offering, the Bulgarian company said in a separate statement.
In addition, Edge will partner with Bulgarian electronics manufacturer Samel-90 to single out business opportunities within multiple electronic development domains.
Based in Samokov, near Sofia, Samel-90 specialises in products such as jammer solutions, surveillance equipment, tools and mechanical parts, and satellite components.
The agreements were signed during a trade mission to Bulgaria by members of Edge's senior management team.
Established in 2019, Edge brings together more than 20 businesses under four main categories: platforms and systems, missiles and weapons, electronic warfare and cyber technologies, and trading and mission support. Edge is at the forefront of Industry 4.0, integrating IoT, cloud computing, analytics, AI, and machine learning. The company specialises in enhancing national security and international exports, emphasizing autonomous capabilities, cyber-physical systems, advanced propulsion, robotics, and smart materials.
