November 20 (SeeNews) - UK-based provider of fast online remittance solutions for migrant workers TransferGo said on Wednesday it has launched its local money transfer service in Romania.
The free service allows customers to send money to other TransferGo customers as well as to relatives or friends who have not yet installed the application, only needing a phone with an Internet connection, the company said in a press release.
"Time is the most valuable resource for our customers, and with the new offer of local transfers in real time, we reduce waiting times close to zero," TransferGo director for brand marketing and market expansion Marius Nedelcu said.
A recent survey commissioned by TransferGo and conducted by MKOR Consulting shows that 8 out of 10 Romanians send or receive money through mobile transfer applications, and 86% of transactions are carried out between family members.
TransferGo was established in 2012 in the UK and has its headquarters in London. It offers international, fast and low-cost money transfers between 46 countries around the world.
TransferGo has been active on the Romanian market since June 2015 and now has over 1.5 million users.
Currently, transfers from and to Romania represent about 20% of the total number of transfers made by TransferGo customers globally.
