November 16 (SeeNews) - The government of Kosovo is providing state-owned telecoms operator Telekomi i Kosoves with 15 million euro ($16 million), the second and last tranche of a 20 million euro investment loan, the country’s finance ministry said on Thursday.
The loan aims to help Telekomi i Kosoves enhance its telecommunications technology to provide faster and higher-quality services, the ministry said in a social media post.
Telekomi i Kosoves obtained the first tranche of 5 million euro in December 2022.
The company reported a 11 million euro loss in 2021 and a 4 million euro loss in 2022.
Last year, the company said it had agreed with Croatian telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ericsson Nicola Tesla and the North Macedonian unit of Greek telecommunication systems vendor Intracom to modernise its network. In May, Telekomi i Kosoves said it had expanded its 4G infrastructure by 25%.
