June 19 (SeeNews) - Some 800 employees of Serbian shoe manufacturer Falc East decided to end the strike they launched earlier this month, after the company agreed to meet their demands for a pay rise, local media reported.
Falc East agreed to raise salaries by 10%, and to increase the hot meal daily allowance from 150 to 200 dinars ($1.86/1.71 euro), news agency Beta quoted the president of United Trade Unions of Serbia, Uros Savic, as saying on Saturday.
The average monthly salary at the factory is about 50,000 dinars, but high inflation has devalued it, added Savic.
According to the Serbian business registry, Falc East is wholly owned by Italy’s Falc S.P.A. Civitanova Marche. It was established in August 2004.
Falc East, based in the southern city of Knjazevac, produces 1.2 million pairs of shoes anually, exporting almost all of its output to the U.S., EU, UAE, China and India, according to the company’s website.
