February 2 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's biggest photovoltaic plant Prapretno produced 3,015 MWh of electricity in 2022, exceeding the planned output by as much as 8%, state-owned electricity producer and trader Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) said.

Procedures are currently underway to obtain a building permit for the second phase of the expansion of Prapretno PV plant and at the end of 2022 the Hrastnik municipality published a decision on the preparation of a detailed plan for the third phase, HSE said.
"Using solar energy is one of the most important development activities of HSE. Not only the Prapretno PV plant, all our future projects are aimed at building capacity for the production of green electricity, with the goal for HSE to become the bearer and herald of the green transition in Slovenia," CEO Tomaz Stokelj said in the statement.
The completion of the two expansion phases of Prapretno will see its total capacity increased by 9.9 MW, HSE noted.
Prapretno photovoltaic plant, located in an area that was previously used for the deposition of fly ash and slag from a thermal power plant, started delivering electricity to the system as part of start-up and functional tests on March 28, 2022.
