June 13 (SeeNews) - Slovenian agricultural and food company Panvita plans to invest 9 million euro ($9.7 million) in the construction of a lettuce production greenhouse, it said.
The greenhouse will cover an area of 2 hectares and will enable the annual production of 4 million heads of lettuce, Panvita said in a statement on Wednesday.
"This investment stems from our commitment to providing high-quality, fresh, local, and sustainable products. Through such initiatives, we aim to boost local production and decrease reliance on imported goods," Panvita said.
Panvita is a vertically integrated chain of agricultural companies in Slovenia, employing over 700 people and cultivating more than 3,500 hectares of agricultural land.
