LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), September 25 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's net electricity production fell by 6% month-on-month to 1,357 GWh in August, while total electricity consumption declined 2% on the month to 1,052 GWh, the statistical office said on Friday.
In annual terms, the country's power output was up 18%, while total consumption was down 5.8%, the office of statistics said in a statement, citing provisional data.
The August output of the country's hydro power plants rose 53% on the year and fell 2% on a monthly comparison basis to 448 GWh, the output of the thermal power plants was up by an annual 17% but down by a monthly 15% to 372 GWh, while the electricity production of Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant, Krsko, was up 1% on the year and down 1% on the month to 506 GWh, the statement read.
In August, 467 GWh of electricity was imported and 743 GWh was exported. Imports fell 23% compared to the previous month, while export dropped 22%.
In annual terms, Slovenia's electricity exports went up 17%, while imports fell 28%.
Nuclear energy had the largest share of 37.3% in Slovenia's total power production in August, followed by hydro energy with 33%, thermal power plants with 27.4% and solar with 2.3%.
