September 26 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourist arrivals in Slovenia rose by 9.9% year-on-year to 1,559,914 in the January-July period, provisional data from the state statistics office showed on Monday.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists grew 8% in the seven months through July 2016, reaching 3,770,726, the office said in a statement.
Foreign tourist arrivals accounted for 69% of the total number of tourists, whereas overnights spent by foreign nationals made up 64% of all overnights in the period.
Domestic tourists totalled 710,100 in the first seven months of 2016, up 4.4% on the year, taking the total number of tourists to 2,270,014, up 8.1% on the year.
Domestic tourists spent 2,158,303 nights in Slovenia in the first seven seven months of 2016, up 1.4% on the year, taking the overall number of tourist overnights to 5,929,029, up 5.5%.
In July alone, the number of foreign tourists visiting Slovenia rose 14.9% on the year to 446,076, whereas foreign overnights climbed 10.9% to 1,157,086.
