January 18 (SeeNews) - Slovenian aluminium manufacturer Impol aims to complete the first phase of the construction of an aluminium block casting plant in Croatia's Sibenik by the end of 2024, it said.
The project will be entirely financed by Impol and will be carried out by its Croatia-based subsidiary Impol TLM, the Slovenian company said in a statement last week.
Earlier this month, Croatia's government declared the 182.87 million kuna ($27.6 million/24.3 million euro) investment in the construction of the factory a project of strategic importance to speed up its implementation.
"The government’s decision means that we are a step closer to obtaining a construction permit and to start building the new foundry," Impol said.
Impol-TLM has drawn up the documentation for the environmental permit and has received the green light by the authorities for the factory's drainage and protection system, the Slovenian company noted.
Impol-TLM operates a factory for reprocessing aluminium semi-finished goods in Sibenik. The new plant will reduce dependence on external sources of aluminium block castings, increase value added, improve product quality, decrease water consumption and create jobs, the Croatian government said earlier in January.
