July 18 (SeeNews) - Slovenian state-owned electricity producer Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) swung to a net profit of 7.1 million euro ($7.2 million) in 2021 from a 184.2 million euro profit in the previous year, it said on Tuesday.
HSE's net sales revenue grew to 2.54 billion euro last year from 1.859 billion euro in 2020, while its EBITDA went up to 330.2 million euro from 187.8 million euro, the company said in an annual report published on its website.
The main reason for the rise in EBITDA was the 231.8 million euro in compensation that Termolektrarna Sostanj (TES) received from General Electric Group, the legal successor of Alstom, following an out-of-court settlement regarding the construction of Unit 6.
Without the compensation, last year's EBITDA would have been 52% than that in 2020, the company added.
It generates 70% of the electricity from renewable energy sources produced in Slovenia. Half of the electricity it produces comes from renewable energy sources, while the other half comes from the two coal-fired and four gas-fueled generators of TES.
