November 16 (SeeNews) - Slovenia’s seaports handled 17.1 million tonnes of cargo in the first nine months of 2022, up 11.5% on the year, data from the country's statistical office showed.
The Slovenian seaports serviced a total of 89,382 passengers in January-September, up from only 2,338 in the like period of last year, according to data posted on the website of the statistical office.
In September alone, Slovenia's seaports handled 2.065 million tonnes of cargo, up 5.9%, whereas the number of passengers went up to 11,000 from 1,072.
Koper, with an annual capacity of 18 million tonnes, is the major seaport in Slovenia. Izola and Piran are smaller ports in the country.
