January 31 (SeeNews) - Serbia's trade deficit increased by 23.4% to $4.954 billion (3.978 billion euro) in 2017, data from the country's statistical office showed on Wednesday.
The country's exports rose 14.2% on the year to $16.992 billion, while imports grew by 16.1% to $21.947 billion, the data indicated.
Consequently, Serbia's export-import ratio dropped to 77.4% in 2017 from 79.4% in 2016.
Serbia’s main export markets in 2017 were Italy and Germany, absorbing $2.237 billion and $2.132 billion worth of Serbian exports, respectively. Imports originating in Germany and Italy amounted to $2.775 billion and $2.209 billion, respectively.
