May 18 (SeeNews) - Serbia's foreign exchange inflow declined by just 8.5% to 76 million euro ($83.2 million) in March despite the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), trade minister Rasim Ljajic said.
The foreign exchange inflow significantly exceeded the 30 million euro forecast as a result of credit and debit card transactions made by Serbian citizens coming from abroad, Ljajic said as quoted in a government statement on Monday.
"If there had been no epidemic, the foreign exchange inflow in March would have grown by more than 15%," Ljajic said.
Serbia declared a state of emergency and closed its borders to foreign nationals on March 15 due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
