BELGRADE (Serbia), July 3 (SeeNews) – Serbian start-up GreenLab plans to start exports of veterinary probiotics Hira Vet and Hira Pet to Asian markets, the Serbian Innovation Fund said.
Greenlab is leading a consortium of Serbian start-ups which have developed the innovative probiotics Hira Vet and Hira Pet, the first ones of this type made in Serbia, which troubleshoot intestinal infections in domestic animals, the Serbian Innovation Fund said in a statement on Monday.
The two probiotics were first manufactured for commercial use in the production facility of start-up Invetlab, a member of the consortium, in Grgurevci, in northern Serbia, in March, the Innovation Fund said.
Hira Vet is a probiotic combination of lactic acid bacteria, present in normal gastrointestinal flora, while Hira Pet is a probiotic combination specifically prepared for pets.
The Innovation Fund allocated 209,000 euro ($244,000) to the project under its Collaborative Grant Scheme Programme, while the consortium contributed 90,000 euro.
The consortium that has developed the product also includes start-up Phytolab and the Serbian Institute for Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering.
