BELGRADE (Serbia), January 9 (SeeNews) – Serbia plans to launch in March the construction of a trunk road connecting Valjevo, in the country's western part, to European transport Corridor XI, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said on Thursday.
The government plans to start a 600 million euro ($666 million) project for construction of Fruskogorski Corridor road in 2020 and will complete the drafting of project documentation for Vozd Karadjordje, a road linking European transport Corridors X and XI, Mihajlovic said in a video file posted on the website of private broadcaster TV Prva.
"As for railways, we will begin work on the Novi Sad-Subotica high-speed railway project and on the railway line linking Valjevo to the Montenegrin border," Mihajlovic said.
Serbia will start the construction of motorways with a total length of 400 km in the short term and will have the longest network of highways in Southeast Europe by the end of 2025, she added.
Last month, prime minister Ana Brnabic said the government plans to make investments worth 14 billion euro to stimulate Serbia's economic growth by 2025.
