BELGRADE (Serbia), November 29 (SeeNews) – Serbia plans to open for traffic the Surcin-Obrenovac motorway section of pan-European Corridor XI on December 18, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic has said.

"I am proud of this project, this government has been running it practically from the beginning, the works started in 2017 and will be completed in December, before the expiration of the contractual deadline in January 2020," Mihajlovic said in a press release on Thursday.

Serbia signed a $233.69 million (212.4 million euro) agreement with China for the design and construction of Surcin-Obrenovac section of Corridor XI in June 2016. The agreement was signed by Serbia's economy minister and the director of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), a unit of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), during an official visit of China's president Xi Jinping to Belgrade.

In Serbia, Corridor XI runs from the country's northeastern border with Romania to the southwestern border with Montenegro.
