October 27 (SeeNews) - Serbian state-run company Koridori Srbije's director Zoran Babic said on Friday the construction of the Dimitrovgrad bypass of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad motorway, part of pan-European Corridor X, will be completed on December 15.
Тhe bypass project involves the construction of seven tunnels and two tunnels and a tollbooth and required the excavation of 800,000 square metres of rocks, Babic said in a video file posted on the website of news agency Tanjug.
Koridori Srbije has already completed the project documentation for the construction of a road connecting Dimitrovgrad to the bypass, Babic said.
The construction of the 8.3 km bypass road around Dimitrovgrad is financed by the World Bank and carried out by Greek company Aktor.
Corridor X will connect Salzburg in Austria to the Greek port of Thessaloniki, passing through Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia. In Serbia, the project includes the construction of Belgrade bypass motorway, as well as two separate sections, linking Nis to Levosoje, near the Macedonian border, and to the border with Bulgaria.
