February 5 (SeeNews) - Serbia plans to build a runway for cargo flights at Morava airport in Kraljevo, the director of state-run airport operator Aerodromi Srbije, Mihajlo Zdravkovic, has said.
"We expect that by the end of the year we will create conditions for the construction of the new runway, in order to support the growth of cargo transport in the region," Zdravkovic said in a video file posted on the website of Tanjug news agency on Tuesday.
Morava Airport opened for international civil aviation operations in July. The government has invested 8.5 million euro ($9.4 million) in the overhaul of the Morava military airport to ensure the operation of flights of ATR-72 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
