March 14 (SeeNews) - Serbia’s state-run road operator Putevi Srbije signed a deal with Itech Corp and Elcom Bgd to install sixteen green charging stations at rest areas on highways, the government said.
The projects will involve the construction of additional infrastructure at the existing rest areas and parking lots for the needs of electric charger users, infrastructure minister Goran Vesic said in a press release on Wednesday.
Vesic said that in this way, in the next few years, Serbia will become the best country in the region in terms of installed electric car chargers.
Serbia currently has eight electric chargers on its roads and along with the planned sixteen, it will also install seven chargers on new highway sections such as the Morava Corridor and the Ruma-Sabac section, meaning that this year it will have 33 electric chargers, mostly at toll booths, Vesic said.
