June 28 (SeeNews) - Serbian sees its wheat output at 2.7 million tonnes this year, with around 1.0 million tonnes of it going for exports, agriculture minister Branislav Nedimovic said.
Nedimovic told the Serbian parliament he expects wheat yield of 4.7-4.8 tonnes per hectare, the government said in a statement on Thursday.
He added that the current price of 24 dinars ($0.23/0.20 euro) per kilogram on the domestic commodity exchange is record-high.
The country's statistical office reported in September that Serbia's 2018 wheat output rose 29% to 2.942 million tonnes.
Nedimovic also said that after three-four decades of no exports of Serbian wheat to Africa, the country received in March this year a certificate for exports to Egypt.
He added that Serbian companies already participated in tenders for wheat exports to Egypt and expect to receive the results soon.
