December 30 (SeeNews) - Serbia took delivery of the first batch of Russia's Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine for the immunisation of its citizens, a live broadcast by Tanjug news agency showed on Wednesday.
"We have received 2,400 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine," Mirsad Djerlek, state secretary at the health ministry, said in the live broadcast at the Torlak virology, vaccines and serums institute in Belgrade.
The immunisation with the Russian vaccine is expected to start in January. Serbia received the first 20 doses of Sputnik V for laboratory tests on December 3.
The health authorities expect the vaccine developed by China's Sinopharm to arrive for laboratory tests in the coming days, Djerlek added.
Serbia started the immunisation with the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech on December 24.
