June 3 (SeeNews) - Serbia's state-owned company Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije has completed a project for the overhaul of four tunnels on the Kraljevo-Raska line, part of a 1 billion dinars ($9.5 million/8.5 million euro) programme for the revamp of 27 tunnels, it said.
The project involved the replacement of railroad materials, rails, thresholds and ballast, the machine regulation of the tracks, as well as the cleaning of drainage channels, Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije said in an e-mailed statement on Sunday.
The four tunnels, namely Bela Glava, Polumir, Bojanic and Djelep, have a total length of 4.3 km, Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije said.
The company plans to invest 1 billion dinars ($9.5 million/8.5 million euro) to revamp 27 tunnels this year and is currently executing the overhaul of four tunnels on the Banje Koviljace-Zvornik line, it added.
Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije plans to start the revamp of four tunnels on the Bor-Majdanpek line later this month, and to complete the overhaul of 15 tunnels, part of the Sargan Eight narrow-gauge heritage railway, in July.
Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije was established as a joint stock company in 2015 as part of a reorganisation programme implemented in railway operator Zeleznice Srbije which saw the uncoupling of the different sectors into separate companies.
