February 24 (SeeNews) - Serbia's defence ministry said it has finalised a deal worth around 81 million euro ($91 million) to acquire two C-295 medium tactical transport aircraft manufactured by Spain's Construcciones Aeronauticas, a subsidiary of Airbus.
The price of the aircraft is around 66 million euro, as the remaining 15 million euro will go towards other goods and the training of Serbian pilots, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The airplanes should arrive in Serbia in late 2023 or early 2024, the ministry quoted assistant minister for material resources Nenad Miloradovic as saying.
The C-295 is manufactured and assembled in the Airbus Defence and Space facilities in Seville and has a capacity for 71 troops, according to the company's website.
Serbia's defence minister Nebojsa Stefanovic announced the deal in October.
