September 6 (SeeNews) - Russian low-cost airline Pobeda has expressed interest in launching direct flights connecting Nis, in southern Serbia, to Moscow, the director of Serbia's Regional Development Agency South, Bojan Avramovic, said.
There is demand for up to two weekly flights between Nis and Moscow, Avramovic said in a video file posted on the website of Serbian private TV broadcaster Zona Plus on Monday.
Currently, there are five flights a day from Belgrade to Moscow and at least one of them is filled with passengers from southern Serbia, according to Avramovic.
Nis airport is also interested in attracting companies wishing to operate flights to Paris, Oslo, Geneva, Frankfurt, Treviso and Istanbul, he added.
Last month, Nis airport said it expected the number of passengers it will handle in 2017 to rise to 320,000 from 124,917 last year.
The Regional Development Agency South was established by the Serbian government to support the economic growth of the regions of Toplica, Nis and Pirot in southern Serbia.
