April 13 (SeeNews) - Romania’s consumer prices rose by 14.53% on the year in March, compared to an annual increase of 15.52% in February, the national statistical office, INS, said on Thursday.
The average inflation rate over the last 12 months was 15.3%, INS said in a statement.
Food prices jumped by 21.56% year-on-year in March, while non-food prices added 11.06%. Prices of services grew by 10.83%.
On a monthly comparison basis, Romania’s consumer price index (CPI) edged up by 1.01% in March, as food prices rose by 1.89%, non-food prices inched up by 0.35% while prices of services increased by 1.08%.
On April 4, Romania's central bank, BNR, said that it decided to keep its monetary policy rate unchanged at 7%.
