March 15 (SeeNews) - Romania's gross foreign debt increased to 173.1 billion euro ($188.5 billion) at the end of January from 168.8 billion euro at the end of 2023, the central bank, BNR, said on Friday.
The end-January figure includes 125.2 billion euro in long-term foreign debt, up from 121.2 billion euro a month earlier, BNR said in a monthly balance of payments report.
Long-term external debt service ratio came in at 11.2% in January, compared to 17.4% at the end of 2023.
The ratio of the BNR’s foreign exchange reserves to short-term external debt by remaining maturity increased to 99.9% at the end of January, from 97.4% at the end of 2023.
