March 6 (SeeNews) - The Romanian municipality of Constanta, in the southeast of the country, said on Wednesday it signed a contract worth over 581.3 million lei ($127.3 million/116.9 million euro) with local energy equipment company Elsaco Electronic for the design and construction of a 97 MW thermal power plant (TPP).
The project entails the construction of a high-efficiency cogeneration unit for thermal and electrical energy production, initially utilising natural gas with the potential for future integration of hydrogen produced from renewable sources, the Constanta city hall said in a social media post on Wednesday.
Elsaco Electronic should build the TPP by December 2025.
The project is funded under the country's National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Established in 1994 and part of the local Elsaco Group, Elsaco Electronic is a system integrator and engineering services provider for municipal utilities. The company offers a full range of services, from studies and analyses, conceptual development, detailed planning and design, to project management, construction, operation and maintenance, according to its website.
